As demand for high-performance grows, doors and grilles are being equipped with more smart technology and automation systems. Most models include sensors, connectivity, and remote monitoring. Rolling doors might also have insulation options—which will significantly reduce your utility bills over time.
Here are some choices, including models, speed, size, warranty, and features to consider as you pick a high-performance door or grille.
High-Performance Door (or Grille): A power-operated rolling, folding, or sliding nonresidential door (or grille), generally characterized by either 100 or more cycles per day or 20 or more inches per second opening speed, and typically made-to-order and/or designed for higher durability, and/or designed to break away due to equipment impact.
High-Speed Door (or Grille): A type of high-performance door (or grille) with a minimum opening rate of 32 inches per second, a minimum closing rate of 24 inches per second, and a means to automatically close the door.
The main difference between high-speed and high-performance is the opening and closing speeds. High-performance doors open at up to 20 inches per second. High-speed doors and grilles open faster, at a minimum of 32 inches per second, and can have faster closing speeds than high-performance products.
Modern high-performance commercial doors offer a variety of features that boost safety and increase your businesses efficiency. Evaluate your business and how it needs to operate to decide which features will be the best fit.
