The Exam Room Counter Door transforms a standard room into a secure, multi-purpose space. It allows healthcare facilities to safely treat both medical and behavioral health patients in the same room back-to-back, which saves resources and improves the operational efficiency of the space.

Our robust design starts with a standard steel curtain for optimal strength. In the event of deliberate collision, impact-resistant guides and end locks ensure the curtain remains securely in place. Engineered with patient security as the top priority, the door’s design eliminates potential hazards. The fascia side motor is above the ceiling and the coil sits above the medical cabinet. Together with concealed fasteners and a flat bottom bar, these features create a smooth, anti-ligature surface facing the patient. This design meets the stringent ASHRAE/Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) recommendations for all exam room finishes to be impact, tamper, and ligature resistant.

Usage

Our Exam Room Counter Doors are constructed for daily use.

Standard Materials & Finishes

Counter-Balance Shaft – Made of steel, supports curtain and contains torsion springs for assisting operation

Brackets – Steel with powder coating to match curtain

Tubes & Guides – Two piece steel guides attached to tubes that are recessed into drywall

Curtain - Interlocking roll-formed flat-faced slats made of Galvanized steel with GalvaNex™ polyester enamel finish in gray, tan, white or black.

End Locks - Riveted to the end of each slat, they are designed to ensure that the curtain is held within the guides in the event of impact.

Bottom Bar - Single angle flat bottom bar in steel with powder coating to match curtain creates a smooth transition.

Operations & Structural Requirements

Motor operation is required
Product is mounted to tubes that are recessed into the drywall along with the coil, eliminating ligature points.

Sensing Edge

Smoother Installation and easy maintenance: Designed with a flexible black rubber TPE material, our new sensing edge has two fins that conform to variations in the floor on both the interior and exterior of your door or grille. This ensures a secure seal without requiring you to overset the bottom door limit. The new sensing edge is easy to clean and remains free from rust and dirt stains, maintaining a fresh uniform appearance.
