In high traffic areas that require access control, Cookson’s high performance security grilles provides a security solution that is engineered for longevity, opens 3 times faster than standard safety gates and comes with many advanced features.

Utilizing a variable-frequency direct drive, means there are not any sprockets or chains to wear or replace. This provides a security gate that reduces downtime with little to no maintenance while offering operating speeds of up to 24” per second. The smooth, high speed rolling gate is not only engineered for longevity, but easy to set up and install. Paired with our Apex SmartController, commissioning, setting limits and setting up status messages for the high performance roll up gate is simple. Even the plug and play wiring makes the grille’s operator installation a breeze while also accepting connections to virtually all activation systems. Available in either straight rectangular or offset brick patterns, multiple opening sizes, materials and finishes are available.

While the high performance gate features are great advantages, this safety gate also utilizes several advanced safety features. Built in UL-325-2010 (NEME) photo eye sensor beams and 6’ tall safegard light curtain, ensure that when anything passes through the grille opening, the rolling gate is immediately halted and the direction reversed.

Standard Materials and Finishes

The 300 Series Grille open air design provides increased visibility and ventilation. Curtains are assembled with heavy duty 5/16” diameter aluminum alloy rods spaced at 2” on the center with aluminum tube spacers specifically placed to create two pattern options:

Sensing Edge - Entrapment Protection Device

Designed with a flexible black rubber TPE material, our new sensing edge has two fins that conform to variations in the floor on both the interior and exterior of your door or grille ensuring a secure seal without requiring you to overset the bottom door limit. The sensing edge is easy to clean and remains free from rust and dirt stains, maintaining a fresh uniform appearance. With flexible 1" sealing fins, our sensing edges provide maximum protection while withstanding the elements.

Edges are tested and listed to UL 10B as a component of the rolling steel fire door assembly.

Safety and Protection

Entrapment Protection Devices

Entrapment protection devices ensure that a motorized door or grille will not close on an object. If an object enters path of closure, the entrapment protection device will stop the door or grille from closing and return it to the fully open position.

Monitored Protection, Even at High Speeds

UL 325-2010 (NEMA 4X) compliant photo eye sensors allow for momentary contact operation – useful in parking garages and other high use openings. Interruption of the photo eye beam before the door fully closes causes the door to immediately halt downward travel and reverse direction to return to the fully open position.

SafetyGard Light Curtain Technology

The 6’ tall light curtain is installed within the guide and blends into the guide construction. If the grille is cycling and an object passes through the curtain beams the door will immediately halt downward travel and reverse direction to return to the open position.
