One of the most overlooked, but important parts of any commercial buildings are the entrances and exits. What if the foundation your building is sitting on isn’t straight across? If there’s a steep slope, irregular opening or raised sidewalk within the door opening, how can your rolling door or grille fit properly? These unusual floor situations can be fixed with a unique bottom bar design that ensures your door reaches the floor and stays closed. The solution? CornellCookson’s Sloping Bottom Bar.
When you have a standard rolling grille, traditional pitch plates serve the purpose of getting your grille to create a secure closure. However, these pitch plates are bulky, unsightly and can give your building an unpolished look. When you have a high performance grille, traditional pitch plates won’t cut it. Our new low-profile option not only ensures your building’s door reaches the ground, but it also gives the opening a highly aesthetic finished look. The Sloping Bottom Bar allows for a greater slope to be achieved by adding up to one inch of slope for every one foot of opening width.
Our Sloping Bottom Bar is perfect for any of our high performance grilles. It provides a seamless, stylish aesthetic for whatever your vision may be. For high traffic areas with limited vertical space such as parking garages, airports and other transportation hubs, you need a grille that can operate at high speeds and high cycle rates while providing security. The Sloping Bottom Bar is designed for use with the Extreme® 300 Series High Performance Grille and the Extreme High Performance MicroCoil® Grille – 500 Cycle. For a continuous uniform grille, the Sloping Bottom Bar is available in aluminum for the Extreme® 300 Grille and in aluminum and stainless steel for the Extreme MicroCoil® Grille – 500 Cycle.
If you need enhanced safety for your commercial building, the Sloping Bottom Bar can be used in conjunction with the Electronic AutoLock and Sensing Edge.
The Electronic AutoLock increases overall security by increasing lift resistance. This compact security option works by automatically engaging the cylinder lock when in the closed position. Electronic AutoLock is a great option for when you need 24/7 security without 24/7 monitoring.
Any of our sensing edges will ensure that a motorized grille will not close on an object. If, and when, an object enters the closure, the sensing edge will stop the grille from closing completely and return it to a fully opened position.
